Santa was good to me this year. I had seen this product some time ago and it was on my wishlist. 22 projects from Amy Butler that I can download and use as is or manipulate to my own designs for quilts, pillows and other homewares.
I am looking forward to getting stuck in to this later in the year when I have my new sewing studio

Went to a wonderfull restaurant for lunch today at The Seamstress in Lonsdale St. Cantonese and South Asian food.

I love fresh flowers and while selling our apartment I always bought pink lillies because of their longevity and smell.
But I couldn't resist these freshly cut Blue Hydrangeas from the market. I used to grow them in my garden in London and I can't believe that when I was younger I thought they were boring and for old ladies. How times change.

Great for summer. Mince chicken or beef with asian flavours and roll your own in iceberg lettuce.

How I love Clover products and I was so pleased to receive this Mini-Iron in my Christmas stocking. It will make making bias binding even easier plus lots of other applications now I have one.
It will come in really handy.

I have a significant birthday coming up and we are deciding what cake to have. We will be choosing between some wonderful cakes at Brunetti. Have you been to their Lygon St store for coffee and cake recently. It's one of my fave food stores. We have narrowed it down to two fillings - Sacher Torte or Opera?

I have had fun. Today I have been printing repeat patterns.
This is the first print
now for the second print and it works!
Then did a random pattern of a largo gingko leaf as a background in silver
First print of the same design in teal
Forgot to take a final shot of the scond pass and this was taken at home but you cant see the silver gingko on this shot
and finally I did a regular repeat pattern as a background of a different design in bronze and then overlayed my previous stencil in orange to create this design.
I have had so much fun and am so inspired to do more.

I am having a great time and the day goes so quick with the added bonus of sitting in a beautiful garden in East Melbourne to have lunch.
Today we learnt how to do a repeat pattern using the Swiss method. More artwork, tracing and stencil cuts to make this pattern. This is the method from Design Sponge One pattern now traced twice on this stencil. Its taken me all day to get here but have learnt another new skill
But tomorrow will be great as we will be printing yardage all day from this stencil.

I am having so much fun doing this CAE summer school in textile design and seem to achieve so much each day.
This morning I finished printing my first botanical designs. These are all drawn freehand from inspiration from the garden in front of the studio. As I have not drawn since I was at High School I am amazed at the outcome.
Having done the process once I had a better understanding about building the templates up and this used 4 templates with a little gingko leaf to give a Japanese feel.
Then with an hour till stumps I experimented on some red cotton using 2 of the gingko templates and using silver and bronze metallics. I really love this.
In one day I can see alot of improvement. And my wonderful teacher Lara is taking classes at Ink and Spindle over the next few months if you want to learn.
Tomorrow repeat patterns.
