Yes another moving day has come around. Slowly all the pieces are taking shape. Moving sideways to go forward. Big plans in the making with a new house build. A project that's going to take us some time.

Well covers at least. I really enjoyed making a journal cover from my own screenprinting fabric.
This time I embroidered some linen/cotton in sashiko style (my own pattern) and used some Heather Bailey Pop Garden from my stash for the lining and pockets
as well as experimenting with this Cherry Blossom pattern
With little space and time to do too much big sewing I am finding these small projects just as fun.

I made my own pattern template for this project. A simple panel with pocket and ties in co-ordinating fabric. I am pleased with the outcome and can see myself making a few of these for my present stash. Less than a metre of Heather Bailey's Pop Garden required.

Did you get caught out yesterday in our extreme weather. I went to Super Saturday at Flemington yesterday and wasnt sure whether I was in the snowfields. It came so suddenly and fortunately Race 6 had just been completed. This is a view from the old member's grandstand onto the track and looking towards the Melbourne skyline! Hailstones everywhere. It was a disaster - no lifts, escalators, floods of water inside on the carpet and NO TRAINS!! - the tracks were flooded. So when they announced they cancelled the rest of the meet we went and got another bottle of champagne and waited 90 mins until buses arrived to take us to Footscray station and then onwards to Flinders St. Then after dinner in Fed Square I walked home along St Kilda Road and the pathways were completely covered with leaf debris - I could not see the pathway. I have never seen anything like it.

Over the last few weeks I have been lucky enough to see a few great shows in town.
Firstly the Ron Mueck sculpture exhibition on at the NGV International until end of April is certainly worth seeing
Lastly the Chunky Move production of Mortal Engine
On my list of new skills to learn this year is Felting
Precious Purl is celebrating their first birthday with this wonderful giveaway. The store is just above Calico House in Brunswick St
And I have just signed up to do a Nuno Felting scarf workshop at Kimono House using japanese fabrics and merino wool in May
I am looking forward to having some time from May onwards to get more into this craft. It seems like a great winters craft with all that rolling

I like these from Ikea - The Fajallista was perfect for an A4 photo
I selected from the Ribba series for smaller 4 x 6 photos
I enjoy having a browse in Ikea during the week and always pick up value packs of tealights and napkins while I am there. I loved the self service exit too - so quick.
