Lemon Trees and Lemon Recipes

Do you know these three varieties of lemons? Eureka, Lisbon and Meyer.

Lemons would have to be the one fruit that I have in my fridge/pantry all the time.

I have very fond memories of my parents huge Lisbon tree that was full of fruit even if the rind was quite thick they were very juicy. My research tells me that the Lisbon is an Australian variety whilst the Eureka comes from California but suits our climate and should fruit all year, which means it's a perfect inclusion in my garden for all year round picking

Now I also like Meyer Lemons. They are more a cross between an orange and lemon. Less acid and a very thin rind. Great for making cordials and for a sweeter tart.

Herring Island

A fabulous sunny day took me too Herring Island in The Yarra river. There is a local artshow on and a sculpture park is on the island too. A bustling cafe in South Yarra made a great stopover.

Persian Pavlova

As part of a middle eastern feast I tried something a little different.

Persian Pavlova

Use my pavlova recipe and replace 1/4 cup caster sugar with 1/4 cup dark sugar.

I added a teaspoon of ground cinnamon to the cream and topped it with pomegranate and slivered pistachios.

Harvest Festival

A beautiful sunny day was perfect for a harvest festival along the banks of the yarra. Yummy foods and wine to taste and buy. Came home laden with eggs, strawberries, olive oil and bread.
