Countdown to Christmas - Makeup Bag

Making handmade gifts for the family.

This is an oversized makeup bag using Nicole Mallalieu patterns.

I used a photocopier to upscale the pattern size to increase the bag by 30% so it can be used as a full makeup bag or a toiletrie carryall. I also used Nikki's tips and made a solid plastic base so it stands up.

I have made lots of these and they are always well received by family and friends.

Countdown to Christmas - Christmas Crackers

For some it maybe early but not me. As I am hosting the family Christmas party early in December I am on the case. I decided to make my own crackers this year and they are really easy.

I used Tara Dennis's video on How To Make Bon Bons and I can recommend it.

Chillie Tomato Sauce

Making tomato sauce today with tinned tomatoes. I had a huge tin of crushed Roma tomatoes - 2.5 kilos. To that I added olive oil, sugar, chillie paste, garlic and salt and pepper. Simmered it down for half an hour to make a really thick sauce for pasta or stew. Then I bottled some and kept on simmering to make a really thick paste that I can just add to my cooking later in the year.
