I have been very slack.......I have been tagged a number of times these past few months by Paisley St Claire Bug and Pop Badskirt No Life Without Wife .....................but have not played along. So I have bundled them all together and am sharing 5 useless things about me.
1........I learnt to ride a bike at age 36 in bushy Park in Teddington just near Hampton Hill and Hampton Palace in Middlesex. It's a beautiful park with the deer roaming freely except when a crazy woman who doesn't know how to use the brake runs into you.
Bushy Park
2........I am a cricket tragic, I know what you are thinking, its boring and like watching paint dry but I love it...and I have found another kindred spirit in Taccolina who shares my passion. In Singapore we have a dedicated Cricket Channel so I get to watch as much cricket as I can tolerate. During the IPL (thats Indian Premier League 20/20 matches) we could sit down after dinner and watch an exciting 3 hour game with the best International players playing. It was great..........and great to sew or hand quilt while watching. I love 50 over matches and the Tests just as much.........I just have it on in the background while I am sewing or cooking....just like the radio

3........When I left Australia I did not drink tea (I was a black coffee drinker) or beer (wine and spirits for me). But living in Europe and Asia taught me that tea doesn't come out of a tea bag and there was more to beer than Fosters. So now we have a wonderful collection of teapots and maybe 8 different teas in the fridge at any one time. One day soon I will show you our teapots. And as for beer well its more my husband but we have a collection of belgium beer glasses from our travels. Plus I am loving all the microbreweries in Oz.........Little Creatures and Hargreaves Hill being some favs.
1. Drinking tea in the Japanese Tea Garden, 2. Beer from Belgium
4.......But one thing I cant get my palette around is beetroot or beets to my Northern Hemisphere friends.......is it the smell, the taste or the mess and staining they make? can't decide. Its an Aussie BBQ tradition open the tin of golden circle precooked and sliced beetroot...yuk!!! I have never had really good beetroot - straight from the garden and cooked in a special recipe, my mother always had the tinned variety. I would be willing to give it a go. If anyone has a special recipe that will change my attitude to beets. Speaking of Golden Circle that's the way I was introduced to asparagus and I love fresh asparagus now. so there is hope.
Now you maybe wondering why I have a hamburger here..... well another aussie tradition is the hamburger with the lot and it's not a real burger if it doesn't have a slice of beetroot in it! Which reminds me that when I would order a salad sandwich I would have to be quick to get them to leave the beetroot out otherwise everything was tainted with the colour and vinegar brine

My mother had the Golden Circle Cannery cookbook and I remember visiting the pineapple cannery in queensland with my family 35 years ago........the pineapple was so sweet and delicious

5........I used to bite my nails down to the quick when I was in primary school. i can't remember when I stopped.....it was before high school and I can remember my mum painting on this solution to try and get me to stop and break the habit.....well something worked as I always have painted nails and take good care of them. Sunday night has always been my ritual of manicure and painting since as long as I had been working.......and being in Singapore I have painted toes as well. OPI is my fav brand of nail polish and as I get older I am abandoning the red nails for something less bright and more neutral. Loving Pearls Night Out (soft pearly white) for my hands and over Christmas from their Holiday Range - A Ruby for Rudolph........don't you just love these names!!

Well that about does it, I hope I am reprieved
I won't tag anyone else as I think these have been doing the rounds during 2008.
