A beautiful sunny day in the studio today. Decided to get stuck into a wrap skirt pattern that I have traced off a fav skirt. Fingers crossed my pattern making skills worked.

Using my stash of Japanese fabric and filled with rice they are working fine to keep my doors open.

Christmas Countdown - Scatter Cushions

As a last minute thought I decided to update my lounge suite with some red scatter cushions. Great red faux velvet from Spotlight was a bargain and looks very luxe for christmas.

They are really easy to make especially with an invisible zip........use this scatter cushion tutorial.

They make great gifts too.

Silent Cinema Fabric

I am looking around for some new fabric to inspire me for a quilt and came across Jenean Morrison through Quilt Home.

I purchased this small sampler of Silent Cinema from her blog

 I am only going to use the grey and yellow fabric

 This is Jenean's Patchwork Cushion Tutorial  from Sew4Home using an alternative Silent Cinema colourway.

Nikki's Pattern Free Cowl Top

Now in my new studio and craft space I was looking for something to start my creative juices. In my stash I had some great red jersey and I wanted to experiment from Nikki's You Sew Girl Book.

This was very easy to make and  although I did not have enough length to cover my hips it sits just below my waist. I loved the technique of making a binded hem and used the beginners technique for the armhole binding.

I would certainly make another one but this time get the right length of fabric to sit on my hips. But a great first attempt........you really can't go wrong.

Perfect for layering or on it's own

Plum Jersey Dress

I am making another Jersey dress in this beautiful plum colour. I found a new fabric store at 444 HIgh St, Prahran called Preview. They have many international designer fabrics for sale. I had many jerseys to choose from but this plum colour caught my eye for an autumn/winter dress.

Poinsetta Fairy Doll

With not much time left before Christmas I am trying to finish this doll. I have been very busy this December so today was a day off watching the cricket and recovering from a hectic time before the next onslaught. I finished her skirt and bodice. Have her boots and underpants to go. It's been a hard slog.

Ink and Spindle Fabric

Beautiful Ink and Spindle fabric bought at the recent Finders Keepers market. Destined to be turned into scatter cushions for a gift.

 

 

My invisible zip foot has come in so handy to do these projects. I have bought their base linen fabric for the backing. So easy to make. My tutorial is here.

Collete Crepe Dress

Finally finished. This is the back....

 

Front

 

Next time I would redraft the neckline and make it more of a scoop, its a little too high for my liking. I was disappointed in the seam line being in the centre front of the skirt panel. Is ok when its a single colour but with a print it looks a bit odd. It's an easy pattern to make, no zips or armholes.

Crepe Dress Continues

I have added the bias skirt to The Crepe bodice.Instead of having a raw edge close to the body I have enclosed it in bias binding.
